Bob Shirk, 76, passed away from this life on October 31, 2023, in Brownwood, Texas.
Bob was born on a farm outside Everton, Missouri, on November 27, 1946. He was raised by his mother, Carley Shirk, his grandparents, and later his stepfather, Carl Cooper. All preceded him in death. He is a 1962 graduate of Everton High School in Everton, Missouri.
In 1962, Bob joined Handi-Clean Products. He spent the next 40 years traveling the country selling chemicals to businesses and organizations. He was twice named “Man of the Year” for the company.
Bob’s proudest accomplishment in life, however, was his children. First came James Robert, of Tennessee. Then came Jessica Davis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Vinton Shirk (wife Kimberly) of Alex, Oklahoma, Allison Shirk (significant other Chris Stultz) of Abilene, Texas, and Carlie Felps (husband Travis) of Marble Falls, Texas. He was later blessed by the addition of Ahlisha Johnson, of Yakima, Washington, as a bonus child. Bob leaves behind eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his wife Ruth Murphy, who he married on December 31, 1991.
When not busy with his family or work, Bob was an avid sports fan. He had an undying love for the Coleman Bluecats, Kansas City Chiefs, Saint Louis Cardinals, and Texas Rangers. In addition, he loved being involved in activities at Coleman County Senior Center, where he was employed for a short time.
Bob will be laid to rest at a later date in Missouri.
