Brownwood PD Issues Statement on WalMart Threat

The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release early Sunday morning:

On Saturday October 28, 2023, at approximately 9:15pm, Brownwood Communications received a phone call from a male subject who made threats toward Walmart customers and employees. Law enforcement officers from the Brownwood Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Early Police Department, and State Park Police all responded to the threat. Assisted by the Brownwood Fire Department and AMR ambulance service, first responders worked with Walmart personnel to evacuate the building and conduct an in-depth search of the property to ensure everyone’s safety.

At approximately 1:00am, the inspection of the property was completed and the property closed for the night per their normal operating hours. No threat was located nor is expected at this time.
