October is National Principals Month, and Brownwood ISD (BISD) is proud to recognize each of our principals for their hard work and continued dedication to the success of students in BISD schools.

Christi Burks is the East Elementary School principal. She first joined BISD as a second grade teacher in 2017. Beginning in 2018 she served as an RTI specialist before becoming an Administrative Intern at East in 2021. She was promoted to her current position as principal in 2022. This is her seventh year with BISD. Ms. Burks holds a Master of Education degree from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Howard Payne University. She is a state-certified teacher and principal. Ms. Burks’ passion for education, instructional vision, and student growth continues a legacy of improved academic excellence at East Elementary. From helping the campus reach National Blue Ribbon status in 2022, to her current leadership as principal, Ms. Burks maintains a positive school environment that fosters success for students, teachers, and staff.

BISD is blessed to have Ms. Burks as our East Elementary principal, and we congratulate her on being recognized during National Principals Month!
