State Representative David Spiller (R – Jacksboro), filed House Bill 4, a historic piece of legislation which would create a criminal offense for illegal entry into Texas from a foreign nation and authorize all licensed peace officers to remove illegal immigrants from Texas.

“The Biden Administration continues to ignore repeated demands for aggressive prosecution of illegal entry offenses and refuses to protect border states against invasion,” explained Representative Spiller. “Despite President Biden’s recent unsubstantiated rhetoric that he now wants to complete the border wall, Texans know that he has failed and refused to enforce federal immigration laws and to secure our border. We have had enough. This landmark bill allows Texans to protect Texas, to send illegal immigrants back, and to incarcerate those that refuse to leave.

“Securing the border has been my number one priority since taking office. This session, I sponsored the Border Interstate Compact bill, funded $5.1 billion for security efforts, voted for measures that provided tougher prison sentences for drug smugglers and human traffickers, and designated Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorists,” said Representative Spiller.

“I applaud Governor Abbott for adding these important issues to the special session call and I am eager to get this monumental bill across the finish line for Texas,” said Representative Spiller.
