Barbara Brook Brodbeck passed away on October 10, 2023, at the age of 84.  She was a longtime resident of Brady, Texas, where she lived in a home on her beloved ranch, which she and her husband, Ron Brodbeck, had built together.  Barbara and Ron enjoyed an impressively long and extremely enjoyable marriage of 64 years.  Barbara was born and raised in Brady, Texas, before she moved to Missouri to pursue her post-secondary education at Stephens College in Colombia, Missouri.  It was at Stephens where Barbara met some of her closest friends, and most importantly, Ron.  This marked the beginning of their 64 years of pure fun. Barbara and Ron were married on December 24th, 1959, in Llano, Texas.  In the years following their wedding, they traveled extensively and shared many late nights with close friends.  Barbara and Ron had one daughter, Bonnie, who enjoyed a loving childhood in St. Louis, Missouri with her parents.  Barbara devoted a significant amount of time and love to Bonnie, and together they created countless memories, embodying the ideal mother-daughter relationship where they were also the best of friends.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Ronald Brodbeck, her daughter, Bonnie McAnelly, and Bonnie’s husband, Stan McAnelly, as well as the two young women Barbara devoted her latter years to loving – her granddaughters, Anna Madden and Katie McAnelly.  Additionally, she is survived by a dear friend and caregiver, Eladio Ramirez, who loved Barbara as if she were part of his own family.  Barbara’s parents, Louis Thomas (Tommy) Brook and Helene Smith Miller, blessed her with several siblings, including her biological sister, Bonnie Brook, and her three stepsiblings she is survived by, Frederica Foster, Stanley Miller, and Larry Miller.

A service to celebrate Barbara’s many years of love and fun will be had later this month, arrangements are pending at this time.  Friends may view Barbara’s Memorial Video Tribute and/or sign her online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.  In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial contributions in memory of Barbara Brook Brodbeck be made to the McCulloch County Library. To do so, please mail or deliver donations to 401 E. Commerce St. Brady, Texas, 76825, and mention that your donation will be honoring Barbara Brodbeck.
