Clyde Woman Dies in Callahan County Wreck

A woman from Clyde died in a two vehicle crash in Callahan County on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

According to the preliminary accident report issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Lina Saucedo De Loving, 93, of Clyde, Texas was pronounced dead at 12:20 pm by Justice of the Peace Tom Rumfield.

She was driving a 2014 model Ford pickup truck traveling West on County Road 258 in Callahan County and failed to yield right of way from a stop sign at the intersection of FM 603.

Driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, towing a 2017 Load Trail “dump” semi-trailer, was Paul James, 57, of Clyde. He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene in stable condition with non-incapacitating injuries.

James was traveling North on FM 603 approaching the intersection of CR 258 when the Ford struck the trailer of the Chevrolet. The victim’s pickup overturned after colliding with the trailer. The pickup and trailer jackknifed crossing the southbound lanes of FM 603 and came to rest off the west side of the highway.

The wreck was investigated by Troopers Cody Pope of Baird, Matthew Howe of Baird, Will Windham of Baird, Chris Romo of Tuscola, Lance Parker of Baird and Dale Escobedo of Breckenridge.

Seatbelts were worn by both parties.  The time of the wreck was 12:16 pm.  Weather conditions were clear.  Road conditions were dry.
