The Funeral will be held at 10:00 AM, September 29, 2023 at May First Baptist Church with burial to follow at Wolf Valley Cemetery.
Sue was born in Haskell, Texas on July 13, 1942 to James Henry and Mabel Ingram. She graduated from May High School in 1960. Sue married the love of her life, Jim Jackson, on January 23, 1971 in Tyler, TX. Together they built a life in the May community that blessed them with 3 children, Jason, Jesse and Laurie. Sue was a cherished wife, mother, grandmom and great grandmom. Her devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She fiercely loved each member of her immediate and extended family with an unconditional, unwavering love and prayed for her family every day. She did not hesitate to put aside her needs in order to satisfy her family’s needs. She rarely went anywhere without Jim and always had his needs first in her mind. She was a great example to her children of what a wife should be. In her later years she loved to sit out on the porch with Jim and hold his hand as they watched the hummingbirds hover around. As a mother, she showed sacrificial love every day and was always willing to do anything for her children no matter how old they were or how far away they were. She was a proud grandmother, adoring all of her grandchildren, doting on them as often as she could. Grandmom always made sure the macaroni and cheese, brownies, banana bread, fluffy pink stuff and banana pudding was perfect and ready for the grandkids. She loved following the grandchildren to any activity they were in and supporting them. She was always ready to tell anyone who would listen about her children or grandchildren.
Sue loved her extended family and friends. She loved hosting Jackson family holidays in the home Jim built for her. Cooking enough food to feed an army and sitting back watching everyone laugh and fellowship was one of her favorite things. She always enjoyed playing games with her sister and brother in laws or special friends Adron and Betty Beck.
Sue was a strong woman of faith. She attended May First Baptist church for the last 30 years. She loved her church family and enjoyed serving them. She preferred to do things in the background and was always looking for ways to serve out of the limelight.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Jackson; sons, Jason Jackson and wife April of Leander & Jesse Jackson and wife Regina of Kerrville; daughter, Laurie Flenniken and husband Brian of May; 10 grandchildren, Madison Spann, Conner Jackson, Cora Hutton and husband Jesse, Connor Flenniken, Chris Flenniken, Abigail Apidone and fiancée Kade Hunt, Jamie Jackson, Aiden Apidone, Rachel Jackson and Aaron Apidone; one great grandchild, Declan Hutton, who she adored, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, friends and family that were special to her.
