Another rabies case has been confirmed in the area. Wednesday, we reported on a rabies case confirmed in a skunk in Coleman. Now a case of rabies has been confirmed in a cat in Comanche. Both cases happened on the same day, last Thursday, September 14th.
In the rabies case in Comanche, police responded to the 1400 block of North Austin Street in the evening hours of September 14th where a resident had been bitten and scratched by a cat and the cat was still at the location. The cat was taken to the animal shelter and later sent for testing.
Wednesday, September 20, the Comanche Police Department received notification that the cat tested positive for rabies.
Comanche Police are working with the Health Department and residents to make sure all necessary safety steps for the community are being taken.
