Myd Graves, 102, of Brownwood, Texas passed away Monday, September 11, 2023.

A graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 16, 2023 officiated by Ron Keener.

Myd was born March 11, 1921 in Gulf, Texas to Lillian and John Preas.  The city was on the Gulf Coast and built on a sulfur mine.  When the sulfur was mined, the city sank into the Gulf of Mexico. It was rebuilt north of Freeport and is now New Gulf.  Her parents moved to Brownwood when she was age 5 where she attended school and graduated from Brownwood High School.  Myd married Lawrence Bruner and had two children (Wayne and Virginia) during this marriage.  Later, she married Clarence Graves and had a daughter (Judy) during this marriage.  She attended Howard Payne College at the same time her son, Wayne, attended HPC.  She obtained her accreditation as a Medical Records Librarian from American Medical Association and worked at Medical Arts Hospital and also at Brownwood Memorial Hospital.  Myd worked in the Blood Bank at Brownwood Memorial Medical Center and for H. B. Allen Jr., Ophthalmologist.

Myd traveled extensively in the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, Tahiti and islands in the Caribbean.  She spent three summers in Mexico City, Alaska and visited in Canada as well as many states in the United States.  Myd danced professionally for seven years with a group from Dallas.  She also worked for the Dallas Cowboys and modeled at the Apparel Mart in Dallas.  When she moved to Kerrville, she was greeter and social director for the Cowboy Artist of America Museum.  Also, while in Kerrville, she served as secretary for the U. S. Senior Games.  Later, she returned to Brownwood for the remainder of her life and volunteered at Good Samaritan Resale Shop.

Myd is survived by three children; Wayne Graves of Brownwood, Virginia Pedrotti of California and Judy Steel of Brownwood; 10 grandchildren; oodles of great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren and many friends.
