Steve Hinds, 68, of Coleman

Robert Stephen “Steve” Hinds, age 68, of Coleman, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Coleman County Medical Center.

The family will host a visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.  Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Glen Cove Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Ralph Howell officiating.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.

Steve was born on November 10, 1954, in Coleman, Texas, to Robert Carroll Hinds and Addie Lee Hopper Hinds. As a child and young man, he moved to several places, including California, Arizona, and Oklahoma before settling back down in Coleman, TX. He graduated from Talpa Centennial High School in 1973.

He was a Master Plumber by trade but had several hobbies. He loved spending time with his siblings and being “Pop” to his grandchildren.  Steve was an avid gun club member and participated in competitions, as well as teaching Youth Shooting Sports for 4H. He was a voracious reader, reading everything from comics to Capstick. He also loved shooting and astronomy.

Steve is survived by his children and grandchildren, Heather Dennis and husband Josh of Pennsylvania, Landon Hinds of Brownwood, and Sheridan Jones of Glen Cove, Braden Dennis and fiancée Kate of South Carolina, Camden Dennis and wife Mackenzie of Pennsylvania, Ryan Broadway of Colorado, Thad Hinds of Brownwood, Ronyn and Sagan Jones of Glen Cove. He is also survived by his siblings David and wife Pam Hinds of Coleman, Phillip and wife Amy Hinds of Coleman, and Laura and Ral Dees of Glen Cove, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his significant other, Tamara Sullivan.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Carroll Hinds and Addie Hinds, and his grandson, Haidon Hinds, and nephew, Lance Hinds. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made in memory of Steve to a charity of the donor’s choice.
