Stephen Douglas Lankart, 63, devoted husband and father, passed away on September 5, 2023.

A memorial service for Stephen will be held at Goldthwaite First Baptist Church on September 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.

Born in Port Lavaca, Texas, on August 28, 1960, Stephen proudly served four years in the Marine Corps before dedicating 25 years to the Texas Department of Public Safety as a state trooper. He later cared for those in need at Hillview Nursing Home for six years.

Stephen’s life was a testament to his deep faith in God, his profound love for his family, and his selfless dedication to his community. He found joy in dark roast coffee, hiking and camping, ice cream, and brewing beer. He was known for his dry sense of humor and unshakeable demeanor. His presence was a constant source of strength and he was an inspiration to many.

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife of almost 38 years, Abigail; his children, Gayla, Elicia, Christopher, and Amanda. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three siblings.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, John Douglas Lankart, and his mother, Ona Lankart.
