Walker Edward Schilling, age 84, of Brady, Texas and formerly of Burnet, Texas passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 in Eden, Texas.
Walker was born September 14, 1938 in Sonora, Texas to August Schilling and Sadie (McCartney) Schilling. He and his brother worked together, as “The Schilling Handymen” for many years. They did dock construction and fence building, among other jobs, in the Highland Lakes area for over 30 years. He also drove a school bus for the Burnet I.S.D. for 11 years. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and playing 42. He was a very loving and caring man who never met a stranger and adored his family. He was known for always having a story to tell. He lived in the Burnet area for over 30 years before moving to Brady during Covid.
Walker Schilling is survived by his son Martin Schilling of Brady, Texas; daughters Martha Bennight and husband Sam of Kerrville, Texas and Elizabeth Covey of Brady, Texas; brother George Schilling of Hoover Valley, Texas; grandchildren John Schilling, Heather Isbell, Mary Slatton, Lora Rhae Smith, Misty Stewart, Walker Covey and Paul Bennight, Lenson Jack McCarty and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Janice and Ellen, brothers Richard Schilling, Gene Schilling and August Schilling, Jr. and sister Mary Louise Lopez.
