In Loving Memory of

Carrie Thayer Welty

A memorial service for Carrie Thayer Welty, 71, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at First Methodist Church of Brownwood. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 12:30 PM.

Carrie was born on March 20, 1952 in Amarillo. Ralph and Neida Thayer raised their three children in Floydada. Carrie was a Whirlwind, Class of 1969. Carrie passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on August 5, 2023, with her family by her side. Her warm and caring nature left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.  She touched the hearts of many during her lifetime.

Carrie’s life took a significant turn in 1984 when she and her children made Brownwood their home. She fell in love with the town and its people, and it became a place of great joy for her. In 1986, she married Rollie Welty of Early, and they shared many beautiful years together.

Early in her life, Carrie worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. But her true passion and heart’s work were found in being a nanny to Ty, Kate, and Barrett.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Neida Thayer as well as her sister Veda Adams. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy and husband, Greg Bogard and grandchildren, Michael and wife Sarah, great-grandchildren, Emerson and Brooks, Brianna, and Seth, son, Michael and wife, Angie Bertrand of Brownwood and grandsons, Colt and Clayton, son, Lynn and wife, Jenny Pearcy of Austin and grandchildren, Scott, Brianna and Gabby, great-grandchildren, Finley and Lainey, and stepson Cody and wife, April Welty and grandchildren, Shelby and Skylar. Last, but not least, is her constant companion, her precious puppy dog, Honey.

A devout Christian, Carrie held strong to her faith throughout her life. Her unwavering belief in Jesus and the promise of reunion brought her peace and comfort. The service will be an opportunity for friends and family to come together to remember, honor, and cherish the life of this remarkable woman.

Carrie will forever be remembered for her kindness, love, and genuine care for others. She leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
