Shannon Thornhill, age 86, of May, passed away on August 8, 2023.
A memorial service for Shannon will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 19, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the memorial service.
Shannon was born in Ranger, Texas on June 4, 1937 to Carl and Zetta Taylor. She married her soulmate Bob Thornhill on March 31, 1953. Bob and Shannon spent time in Arizona and California before making their home in Texas in 1967.
Shannon was a cherished wife, mother, homemaker, and passionate seamstress. Shannon’s devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life. With grace and resilience, she tackled the challenges of motherhood, often putting her own needs aside to ensure her children’s well-being. Her kitchen was a haven of delectable aromas, where she concocted not only nourishing meals but also a sense of togetherness that would remain etched in her children’s memories. She had a passion for canning vegetables, crafted the best canned pickles, and enjoyed creating new recipes. She would make banana pudding for Bob to take to the May Masonic Lodge meetings. In addition to cooking, Shannon’s love for sewing was only rivaled by her passion for shopping. She had an uncanny ability to find hidden gems and unique treasures, turning simple outings into delightful adventures by turning on QVC daily. Shannon was an avid lover of dogs and pigs. Shannon is loved by all that knew her and will be dearly missed. Shannon’s passing leaves a void that words cannot fill, but her legacy will continue to flourish through the memories she created and the love she shared.
Shannon is survived by her four children Michael Thornhill and wife Mary, Tim Thornhill and wife Doris, Bobby Thornhill and wife Jeanne, and Carla Williams and husband David; 17 grandchildren; Sharla Littlefield and Les, Michelle Kiser and husband Beau, Marshall Thornhill and wife Shafer, Stephen Thornhill, Kristen Blear and husband Eric, Ashley Crawford and husband Rusty, Hollie Chastain and Toby, Candice Beal and husband Rob, Cade Chastain and wife Lindsey, Jon Edmiston and wife Sarah, Justin Thornhill, Laura Thornhill, Jamie Tabor and husband Tyler, Tel Williams and wife Kourtney, Dal Williams, Taylor Thornhill and wife Lynsey, Cooper Thornhill and wife Kim, Kendall LeMay and husband Clint, 32 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Shannon is preceded in death by her loving husband Bob Thornhill, her parents Carl and Zetta Taylor; brother Dale Taylor, grandson Michael Joseph Thornhill, and great grandson Tate Austin Crawford.
