Pettye Theresa (Russell) Arrington, 62, of Grand Prairie, passed away on July 27, 2023, after a long battle with chronic illness.

A Celebration of Life for Pettye will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Greenleaf Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the funeral home on Sunday, August 6, 2023. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Pettye was born on April 15, 1962, in Brownwood, to James Russell and Nedra (Bibby) Russell of Brownwood. Pettye grew up in Coleman and later attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood. On June 24, 1988, Pettye married her great love, Edward (Ed) Arrington. The couple moved their family to Grand Prairie, where Pettye began her teaching career in Grand Prairie ISD, where she taught for over 20 years.

Pettye loved her five children and her angel baby. She not only enjoyed teaching but also loved traveling and exploring new places. She was an avid reader and collector of recipes. Pettye and Ed loved to share the kitchen and create wonderful meals for their friends and family.

Pettye is survived by her parents, James and Nedra Russell of Brownwood; her sisters, Jamie Dodgen and husband Jackie of Burkett, and Joan Del Rosa of Brownwood; her son, Rusty Whitfield of North Richland Hills; daughter, Lashanda Whitfield of Ft. Worth; son, Matthew Arrington and wife Skye of Early. Additionally, Pettye was survived by her grandchildren, including Joshua Arrington and wife Amanda of Bangs; Dylan Arrington, Chazz Crook, and Mitchelle Callaway of Brownwood; Connor Arrington and wife Hannah of Brownwood; Rachel Arrington, Anna Arrington, Mattie Arrington, and Jaxon Arrington of Early. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Pettye was preceded in death by her angel baby, Bobby Wayne Whitfield; her daughter, Karyn Arrington; and her son, Jim Arrington.
