Layne Randall Dorsett, age 48, of Brownwood, passed away on July 29, 2023 in San Angelo.

A memorial service for Layne will be held Thursday, August 3 at 10:00 AM, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Layne was born to Lanny and Lesly Dorsett on February 27, 1975 in Houston. He graduated from Early High School in 1993. Layne was a member of Early First Baptist Church and was baptized by Bro. Lowell Skaggs as a child. He found his passion in serving the community working in pest control services, starting off in the DFW area and continuing to Missouri. Layne was an avid and loyal sports fan who followed the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, no matter their records. For years, he was consistently involved in fantasy football and baseball leagues with many friends and family. He was dedicated to fitness and working out, but often, he could be found at the nearest fishing hole. In Layne’s spare time he would volunteer at local animal shelters and rescues.

Layne is survived by his children, Jordan Danielle Lively (husband Alex), Parker and Jakob Dorsett; mother, Lesly Dorsett; brother, Lance Dorsett (wife Stacy); grandchildren, Skyler and Starlett Lively; niece, Kaitlyn Dorsett, as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lanny; his uncle, Ronnie and his cousin, Ron.
