At a special called meeting Monday morning, Brown County Commissioners decided how to spend the remaining ARPA Funds.

ARPA is the American Rescue Plan Act which was passed by Congress in 2021 to provide funds to local governmental bodies to deal with the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Brown County has $5,099,185 remaining in ARPA Funds.  Of that total, $1,388,037 is already committed.

Monday morning Commissioners voted to remove from the Committed Funds $132,000 previously committed for salaries in the District Attorney’s Office.  That resulted in uncommitted ARPA Funds of a little more than $3.8 million.

Commissioners voted NO, by a 3-2 vote, on a previous request from the Brown County Water Improvement District for funds to help purchase a new boat for Lake Patrol.

Commissioners then voted to spend $2.3 million for upgraded computer systems.

The remainder of a little more than $1.5 million will go to the County’s Road Funds.

With that, all ARPA funds are now committed.
