Man Charged with Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon After Pencil Attack

A Santa Anna man was arrested Tuesday night in Brownwood for allegedly stabbing a female victim in the face with a pencil.  According to information from the Brownwood Police Department:

On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at approximately 8:30pm, officers were dispatched to a residential ‘respite’ home in the 1500 block of 3rd Street regarding a report of an assault.

When officers arrived, they were escorted to the victim, who is a staff member of the home, and observed obvious injury to the adult female’s face.  She explained that she provided a pencil and paper to one of the residents, who she observed write something on it then hand it back to her.

As she read the paper, the male suspect grabbed her and placed her in a headlock.  The suspect then began stabbing her in the face with the pencil.  Several puncture wounds were observed on the victim’s cheek.  The victim explained that, while attempting to free herself, she placed her hands over her eyes to protect them as she believed he intended to seriously injure her.

The suspect, Ashley Ross Wills, 49, of Santa Anna, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

According to online jail records at the Brown County Law Enforcement Center, bond was set at $25,000.   Those charged are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
