TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE:  8:45 AM – According to Incident Information from Texas A&M Forest Service – the Hamrick Fire in San Saba County is 95% contained and has burned 232 acres.  Dozer line was completed last night and firefighters patrolled and monitored the area.  Today, crews will patrol and mop up across the fire area.

As the heat continues to beat down, the Central Texas landscape has turned to brown and grass fires are starting to rear their ugly head again.

A grass fire in San Saba County has burned 250 acres and, as of last night, was 30% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forestry Service.

Called the Hamrick Fire, it is located South of County Road 202 and North of County Road 232 in San Saba County.

Fire Departments from San Saba, Richland Springs, Winchell, Rochelle and Elm Grove, possibly others, were helping stop the fire yesterday.

The Forest Service says forward progress has been stopped.  Aircraft made several beneficial drops across the area to assist ground crews.

Dozers are also being used to construct fire lines.
