The Brown County Office of Emergency Management wishes to share more information on the Burn Ban.
When you hear Brown County is under a Burn Ban, what exactly does that mean?
According to the Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning – adopted last week by Brown County Commissioners – All outdoor burning is prohibited in the unincorporated areas of the county for 90 days from the date of the adoption of the Order, UNLESS, the restrictions are terminated earlier based on a determination made by the Commissioners Court or the County Judge.
The order DOES NOT prohibit outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety authorized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for Firefighter Training, public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations, planting or harvesting of agricultural crops or burns that are conducted by a certified prescribed burn manager.
Any Agricultural burns are requested through the County Commissioner for the Precinct that the property is in and on a case by case basis.
