Early’s Kayli DeVusser and Brownwood’s Gage Sparks made the 2023 All Scholastic Team for their academic excellence and shooting performance during the 2022-23 school year.

In order to apply for this team, athletes must have scored higher than a 180/200 in sporting clays or 190/200 trap/skeet, turned in two letters of recommendation and maintain a 3.0 or above through out the current school year. This year the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation received 376 qualified applicants.

Both athletes qualified in sporting clays at the Scholastic Clay Target Program’s Lower Midwest Regionals which took place in Terrell.

Lower Midwest Regionals includes youth shooting athletes from Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Kayli averaged a 3.5GPA her eighth grade year at Early Middle School, while Gage completed his sophomore year at Brownwood High with a 4.1.

Both Kayli and Gage will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments at Nationals in Marengo, Ohio next month. Although the team will not be attending Nationals this year, they hope to compete next year.
