Arthur Ellis Moon II, 77, better known as Art, passed from this life on June 7th, 2023.

He was born Oct 2nd, 1945 in Dodge City, Kansas to Marvin Marion and Irma Ruth Moon.  He is survived by his wife, Beverly Sue Bolin Moon, 2 daughters—Maradean Holmes and Marissa Moon, both of Utah, as well as four granddaughters, 2brothers—Bryan Eric Moon II of Chicago, Leland Earl Moon, and one sister, Moira Moon of Mineral Wells, and one nephew, Zachary Moon.

A memorial service will be held June 17th @2:00 p.m. at the home of a friend, Gail Hanks at 2607 First St. Brownwood, TX.

Art grew up in Brownwood, Texas and has fond memories of time spent at Coggin Park as a child. As he grew older, he achieved his Eagle Scout Award. After high school, Art served a Spanish-speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Peru and Bolivia.

After his mission, Art earned two bachelor degrees from the University of Florida, one in agriculture and the other in Liberal Arts and Science. He pursued several vocations—one as a Chief Hospital Corpman, Navy Medic from 1969-1993, serving an active duty tour in Desert Storm. Among his other vocations was as a post-secondary educator, LVN, phlebotomist, and pharmacy technician.

His interests in life were many. Scouting remained a very import of his life after his military career. He was also a voracious reader, and his library consisted of many war histories, biographers of famous world leaders, politics, and scouting. His vocabulary was nothing short of astounding. He always knew the right words to say in any situation and had a command of the language and sense of humor in writing possessed by few.

In spring of 2022, he met the love of his life…Susie, he called her. They had a whirlwind romance and were married on August 25, 2022. He often told her how much he loved her, describing her as “his world, his universe!” Despite his ill health, he described their year together as the “best year of his life…until it continues in the next one!

To those who knew and loved him best, he will be remembered forever.
