Frank Montagna, 79 passed away on May 19, 2023.

Celebration of Life will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Heartland Funeral Chapel in Early.

Frank was born on January 6, 1944 at Morristown, New Jersey to Thomas Montagna and Helen Irene Padota. He went to school at Howard Payne University and graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He married Sharon Scott on August 20, 1969 in Brownwood Texas and began a life together that blessed them with three children. They were members at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.

Frank Montagna proudly marched to his very own beat. He found a rhythm that allowed him to enjoy his life in his way.

As a young boy growing up in Midland Texas, he loved playing baseball. In fact, he played on the same baseball team with George W. Bush as a child in Midland. After losing his father at the age of 58, Frank, his younger brother and 3 older sisters were raised by his mother. Frank served in the Air Force before settling down in Brownwood Texas to attend Howard Payne University. After getting married in 1969 to Sharon Montagna, he and Sharon raised three children of their own.

Frank worked as a teacher with Brownwood ISD until the early 1980’s when he began his career at 3M. Frank valued a hard day’s work and was proud his hard work allowed him to care for his family. Around 3M where he still worked and played, he saw generations of Brownwood natives come and go. 3M was like a second home to him and we are sure his spirit will be missed by so many there.

It brought Frank joy to bring laughter and a smile to everyone that crossed his path. He was always ready with a joke or a gentle teasing poke when he had the pleasure of being with his friends and family. He had the most fantastic twinkle in his eye as he spread mischief and spurred his beloved grandsons to join in the fun.

Walking around his home and his work, he gave attention to everything around him. He was a giver to his family and friends. Frank was one of a kind.

He was cherished by his grandchildren, adored by his children and loved by his wife.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Montagna; his son, Ricky Montagna and wife Dusty Montagna; his son, Rody Montagna; his daughter, Alisa Covey and husband James Covey; grandchildren Caz, Blake, and Jack.
