AUSTIN – Three Brownwood High School track athletes competed on Thursday at the State Track Meet in Austin.
Brownwood Lion junior Ike Hall improved on his Region I-4A effort by almost two feet to place fifth in the Class 4A boys triple jump at the UIL Track and Field State Championships Thursday afternoon at Myers Stadium at the University of Texas.
Hall (above) won the regional championship in Lubbock with a best leap of 45-6.5, while on Thursday Hall cleared 47-6 on his very first attempt. The remainder of Hall’s jumps cleared 46-11.25, 46-7.75, 45-4.75, a scratch and 45-3.5.
Brownwood Lion senior Tyse Savage concluded his athletic career with a seventh place finish in the 4A boys 200 meters at the UIL Track and Field State Championships Thursday night at the University of Texas’ Myers Stadium.
Savage (above), the runner-up from Region I-4A, was clocked at 21.7 in his final race as a Lion. Savage ran a 21.46 at regionals, one of three events – along with the 4×100 relay and 4×200 relay – he competed in at Lubbock.
As reported on Thursday, Brownwood’s Hannah Deen (shown below) placed 7th in the High Jump at the state meet.
