Dorothy Elizabeth Niemann Bosse, 91, of Priddy, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on May
2, 2023, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born April 20, 1932 to Carl and Lydia Niemann in
Priddy, Texas. She was one of 7 children. Dorothy was baptized and later confirmed her faith to the
Lord at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy, Texas.
She graduated from Priddy High School in 1949. Dorothy met the love of her life, Elmer Eugene
“Gene” Bosse and they were married February 14, 1953. After living in Fort Worth for a short time
they moved to Brownwood, Texas. On October 13, 1964 Dorothy and Gene adopted their daughter,
DeAnn (Bosse) Perkins. In 1968 they bought Wagner Grocery and made their home in Priddy, Texas.
In 1974 Dorothy and Gene adopted their son, Matthew Bosse.
Dorothy carried many titles throughout her life: Aunt Shot, sister, mother, Gran, business woman,
friend, and most importantly, faithful servant. She was a fierce competitor and never shied away from
a good game of Chicken Foot, Dominoes, Mexican Train or 42. Dorothy took great pride in running
Bosse Grocery and she is remembered for her endless pail of Dum Dum suckers, hamburgers, fresh
deli sandwiches, and passionate political conversations.
After retirement she found joy in serving others, filling backpacks with school supplies, collecting
soap, and quilting countless quilts for Lutheran World Relief. More than anything Dorothy enjoyed
spending time with her family, cooking Sunday dinners, cheering on her Dallas Cowboys, and
watching her grand and great grandchildren in all of their activities. She never missed the opportunity
to challenge them with a knock-knock joke and spoil them with a piece of Juicy Fruit Gum or her
special lemon bundt cake.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Lydia Niemann; her husband, Elmer Eugene
Bosse; her father and mother-in-law, Ben and Alma Bosse; her beloved sisters, Vernell Feist and
Frances Kopp; her brother, Melvin (Pete) Niemann; her nephew, Daryl Niemann; and her grandson,
Charlie Ben Bosse.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter DeAnn and husband Chad Perkins of Zephyr; her son Matthew
and wife Patty Bosse of Hamilton; her sister Caroline Schwartz of Priddy; her brothers, LeeRoy and
wife Janice Niemann, and Michael and wife Debbie Niemann of Priddy; her grandsons Chad and his
wife Krystal Butler of Zephyr, Cade Perkins of Zephyr, Braedon and Jackson Bosse of Hamilton; her
granddaughters, Codi Perkins and fiancée Daniel Purcell of May, Cindy and husband Wesley Sledge
of Comanche; her great grandchildren Slade, Sawyer, and Mille Butler of Zephyr, Emerson, Emma,
and Audrey Bosse of Hamilton, Payton Bosse and Eli Sledge of Comanche; and her special friends
Mildred Barker and Adeline Bufe. Dorothy is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews,
friends and family.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral
Home in Goldthwaite, Texas.
Services will be Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy, Texas. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Priddy, Texas.
