As of 2:20 pm Wednesday, the first storm of the afternoon was developing just south of Abilene along an outflow boundary. The KOXE listening area remains in a prime region for the development of severe thunderstorms through roughly 9 o’clock tonight. Storms may rapidly develop and produce large hail, damaging wind an a tornado or two. Here is the latest statement from the San Angelo National Weather Service:
QUICK UPDATE FOR SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL WHICH STILL APPEARS ON TRACK. OUTFLOW BOUNDARY HAS EASED SOUTH AND IS ALONG OR JUST SOUTH OF I-20 EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. PROGRESS SOUTH HAS SLOWED OVER THE LAST FEW HOURS. TO THE WEST, DRYLINE ISN'T AS WELL MARKED BUT IS ROUGHLY FROM OZONA TO STERLING CITY. AHEAD OF THE BOUNDARIES, DEWPOINTS RANGE FROM THE MID 50'S ACROSS THE CONCHO VALLEY TO THE LOWER 60'S ACROSS THE HEARTLAND. VISIBLE SATELLITE SHOWING BETTER CUMULUS BUBBLING UP AROUND AND SOUTH OF THE OUTFLOW BOUNDARY AND APPEARS THAT CONVECTION WILL BE DEVELOPING BEFORE 3 PM. AGAIN, ROUGHLY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT AN AREA FROM ABILENE SOUTH TO BALLINGER AND EAST TOWARDS COLEMAN, BROWNWOOD AND CLYDE LINE FOR INITIAL DEVELOPMENT, WITH DEVELOPMENT SPREADING SOUTH INTO THE AFTERNOON.
