Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores across the country on the last Saturday in April. Intermission Bookshop, located at 203 Center Avenue, Brownwood, Texas, will be participating in IBD on Saturday, April 29th. There will be a book signing by local author Kadee Carder. Her three novels Insurrection, Incomplete, and Indelible, which have just recently been released in print, will be available. The book signing lasts from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Store hours are 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

“Every [book] store is unique and independent, and every party is different,” the Indiebound.org website states of IBD. “But in addition to authors, live music, cupcakes, scavenger hunts, kids’ events, art tables, readings, barbecues, contests, and other fun stuff, there are exclusive books and literary items to get on that day.” To find out exactly what specials will be available at Intermission, readers will have to stop by and see for themselves.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to meet new readers at Intermission Bookshop, during Independent Bookstore Day,” Carder said. “These books have been on an incredible journey and to hold them in my hands after years of hard work is absolutely exciting.” Carder writes young adult science fiction and inspirational non-fiction. She teaches English and Creative Writing with Liberty University Online and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing through National University. “[My books] draw out valor and hope and courage,” Carder said in a Facebook post. “Don’t your teens — don’t you — deserve to read books like that?” Insurrection, Incomplete, and Indelible are the first three books in the Alliance series. This action-packed tale follows Saylor and her friends on a perilous journey to a mysterious island with a secret military base. She ran away from one battle and ended up in a whole new war. Strange noises. Dazzling beaches. And no regrets. To find out more about the series, visit https://www.kadeecarder.com. “Show up to support local people and their passions, because they are within your circle of influence,” Carder said. “Small ripples of support travel great distances.”
