As of 8 p.m. Friday, members of the Bangs Police Department and Bangs Fire Department were still at the scene of an accident that left much of the town without power.

In the parking lot of Allsup’s, an 18-wheeler carrying heavy machinery appeared to snag a low hanging major power line near the intersection of Hall and Sixth Street while passing through, and the force yanked the line to the ground so hard it also snapped to the wooden pole to which it was attached.

Lights up and down Hall Street (U.S. 67/84) were dark, including the traffic signal.
