Myrt Kemp Wells, age 83, of Coleman, died Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.
Her family will host a visitation on Friday, April 7, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pavilion at Glen Cove Cemetery, Coleman County, Texas, with Rev. Aaron Mitchell officiating. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.
Myrtle Marie Kemp was born on November 24, 1939, in Tom Green County, Texas, a daughter of Claud Kemp and Flossie Neatherlin Kemp. Myrt grew up in several places in Texas and attended school at Talpa and Coleman. On February 10, 1989, she married Henry Nolan (H. N.) “Sonny” Wells, Jr. in Granbury. Following their marriage, they lived in Granbury for a while before returning to live in Coleman. Sonny preceded her in death on April 15, 2021. Myrt worked as a seamstress at Jinright Sewing Factory in Coleman. She also worked as a waitress at the Tradewinds and other area restaurants.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Claudine Cole and Judy Kemp.
She is survived by one brother, Glenn Kemp of Burkburnett; nieces and nephews, Marchella Siegle and husband David of Stephenville, Grant Camp of Brownwood, April Owens and husband Bill of Kentucky, Melody Cobb of Stephenville, Bud Cole and wife Kristin of Houston, Terri Kemp of Burkburnett, Annette Priddis and husband John of Burkburnett, Beth Boatman and husband Mark of Burkburnett and Christi McGee of Coleman; several great-nieces and great-nephews; step-children, Jeannine Isom, Kay Giles and Phillip Wells.
