Early High School students got out of school early Thursday due to no electricity at the school. The loss of electrical power was found just down the street where a Semi truck and trailer snapped a utility pole. According to Early Chief of Police David Mercer, the accident happened at approximately 10:20 am Thursday. The truck was west bound on Early Boulevard on the east side of town when it apparently hydroplaned, jackknifed and hit the utility lines, stopping in an area of trees. Only Early High dismissed for the day. All other campuses were still in session. The right lane of Eastbound 67/377 was expected to reopen by about 1:00 pm. Oncor crews were on scene to restore electrical power as soon as possible. According to the Oncor online outage map, 57 customers were affected. Chief Mercer said the driver was shaken up but did not require medical transport.
