Maria “Susie” Garza, 69, of San Saba

Maria “Susie” Garza left this Earth to join the Lord in Heaven on March 20, 2023 in San Saba, Texas.

Susie was born to Julian C. Ramirez and Maria Santos Botello on May 9, 1953 in Granbury, Texas. She moved to San Saba, Texas as a child and would later make it her home. Susie married Lewis C. Garza on April 22, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, they were happily married for 50 years and 11 months.

Susie was active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and loved volunteering in many areas of service. She worked for San Saba Independent School District for 41 years, there she worked a variety of positions such as a teacher’s aide, in the ESL program, she helped run the concession stand for many sporting events and eventually retired as an administrative assistant. In her free time Susie enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening and bird watching. Susie was very active in the community and was loved and respected by many.

Susie is survived by her husband, Lewis C. Garza of San Saba, Texas, her son Ernie Garza and his wife Christy of Little Elm, Texas, her two daughters Amy Jo Garza- Lambert of San Angelo, Texas and Monica Foster and her husband Ryne of Georgetown, Texas, her two brother’s Felix Ramirez of Springtown, Texas, and Ricky Ramirez of Denton, Texas, six sister’s Bea Peek and her husband Danny of Decatur, Texas, Mary Ramirez of Round Rock, Texas, Virginia (Chuco) Ramirez of San Saba, Texas, Berta Ramirez of San Saba, Texas, Janie Jimenez of San Saba, Texas and Julie Martin and husband Mark of Celina, Texas; Eight grandchildren, Nathaniel, Nicholas and Sarah Lambert; Caleb, Asher, and Faith Garza; Dean and James Foster, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is Saturday, March 25, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment at San Saba City Cemetery.

Susie is preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Maria Ramirez, her brother Julian Ramirez Jr., and her sister Mary Alice Ramirez.

Pallbearers will be: Joey Soto, Mark R. Martin, John Scott Moreno, Mike Carroll, Michael Ramirez, Tom Botello Jr. and Carlos B. Perez.

Honorary Pallbearers: Danny Garza, Michael Bohensky, Sam Castro, and Joe A. Perez Jr.
