Mary Droemer, 87, of Santa Anna

Mary Droemer, age 87, of Santa Anna, died Thursday, March 9, 2023, at her residence.

She was born Mary Jean Gerhardt on March 5, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas to Leroy Gerhardt and Mary Lou Flannigan Gerhardt.  Mary grew up in San Antonio where she graduated from Breckenridge High School.  She then attended Trinity University in San Antonio.  Mary worked as the administrative director for the San Antonio River Authority for many years.  She later relocated to Santa Anna, Texas to be closer to her family.  Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Santa Anna.

Mary loved her family.  She enjoyed every moment spending time with them.  Her role as grandmother and great-grandmother gave her more pride and joy as the years went by.  Her home was always open to everyone, giving them food, a drink, and advice.  She leaves behind an amazing legacy for her family.

Mary is survived by her four children, Debbie Henson and husband Ricky of Santa Anna, Linda Vernell and husband Bret of Longview, Terri Kidd of Kilgore, and Michael Droemer of La Vernia; her grandchildren, Kelli Gerdes, Brad Wahl, Leslie Kidd, Christine Scott and husband Billy, Katie Smith and husband Cody, Heather Sanders, Ashley Carter and husband Taylor, Kamryn Droemer, Hunter Droemer, Dylan Droemer, and Cassidee Droemer; her great-grandchildren, Kayla Young, Logan Young, Hailey Newby, Brent Newby, Trey Rangel, Noah Scott, Cooper Scott, Harper Scott, Rustyn and Carter Smith, and Everett Carter; two great-great-grandchildren, Lively and Phoenix; one brother, Leroy Gerhardt, Jr.; and various nieces and one nephew.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service celebrating Mary’s life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 201 Lee Street, in Santa Anna with Rev. David McLean officiating.
