The Brownwood City Council on Tuesday morning, March 14, approved an agreement and the appointment of Tom Byrd, M.D. as the Health Authority of the Brownwood-Brown County Health Department.

The Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 121, establishes appointment of a Health Authority to administer state and local laws relating to public health within the appointing body’s jurisdiction.  The appointment is for a two-year term. This position has been held by Jason Hubbard, D.O. since 2020.
