The Manufacturing Institute has recognized Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP employee Jeanice Padilla with a Women MAKE Award for 2023, citing her community service and her efforts to recruit women into manufacturing roles.
Padilla is a services assistant in CPChem’s Performance Pipe facility in Brownwood, Texas, which manufactures polyethylene piping products.
“Jeanice goes above and beyond to ensure that people are taken care of–across Chevron Phillips and her community,” the Manufacturing Institute said. “As an administrative assistant, Jeanice supports production employees with everything from benefits and human resources requests to timekeeping, accounts payables, purchase orders and more.”
The national Women MAKE Awards recognize women in science, technology, engineering and manufacturing careers who exemplify leadership within their companies. The Women MAKE Awards give women across the country a platform to showcase the incredible opportunities the manufacturing industry has to offer, whether they are running the company, designing the next big product or testing innovations on the shop floor, according to the Manufacturing Institute (MI).
“I am proud to be a woman in the manufacturing industry because it has provided me with more opportunities and resources to assist my community and others than I had ever imagined,” Padilla said. “It has also broadened my abilities to achieve goals and believe in myself. I am fortunate to have been selected as the services assistant with Performance Pipe in Brownwood, Texas, almost five years ago and will be forever grateful to be where I am today.”
Padilla’s work recruiting new CPChem employees from a diverse pool helped earn her the award.
“In a male-dominated manufacturing environment, Jeanice has been integral in helping to attract new female talent to the facility,” MI said. “Taking part in a women-only group in her community, she advocates for the importance of attracting and retaining the next generation of women in her industry.”
Padilla also serves as a member of Chevron Phillips’ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, helping to plan events and implement initiatives for the facility.
Among Padilla’s community service accomplishments is her “Ambassador of the Year” award from the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce in recognition of her support of area businesses and promoting Chevron Phillips Chemical. Padilla organizes an annual Thanksgiving food drive for good Samaritan and a Christmas giving program as a community advocate of Child Welfare Board of Brown County.
“Whether she’s serving her community or supporting her colleagues, Jeanice gives her all with the utmost professionalism and unparalleled sincerity,” MI said.
The Manufacturing Institute will recognize the recipients of the Women MAKE Awards on April 20 in Washington, D.C. The ceremony will highlight each honoree, her leadership and accomplishments in manufacturing.
