Velma married John Wesley Adams from Winchell on February 20, 1943. They were married for over 70 years until his passing on December 17, 2013. Together, they farmed and ranched in southern Brown County for over 20 years. In 1965, they bought Midway Store, a family Farm & Ranch business. Together, they formed a perfect partnership and were very successful. They sold the business to their children in 1980 and retired after building a new home on the highest point of their ranch along the Colorado River. They continued ranching and raising cattle and sheep until Wesley’s death in 2013. Velma carried on with the cattle ranch until her passing.

Velma was best known for her “world famous” banana pudding and her love for cooking. She always had a big smile and was a pleasure to all that were lucky enough to have known her.
