Randall Lindsey, age 62, of Brownwood passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.
Celebration of Life for Randall will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at Heartland Church with Bro. David Barnum officiating; private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Randall was born on November 30, 1960, in Bowie, Texas to Glenn and Loretta Harper Lindsey. Randall moved to Bangs in 1965 and graduated from Bangs High School in 1979.
Randall left behind a legacy he worked his entire life for. At just 12 years old, he started his first job at the Bangs Truck Stop. After this, he worked for the City of Bangs during his summer breaks. This continued until he was 16, when he went to work for Roy Rambo. He began running a bulldozer as a contractor for 3M, and he never looked back. He had found his calling, and he soon became an expert at operating heavy equipment. In the 1980’s, he purchased the company from Mr. Rambo and changed the name to Lake Brownwood Dozer. He kept running equipment until November 2022, when his illness took him away from his daily duties. He said he would never retire; he didn’t see the point in retiring from a job he loved so much.
An avid hunter and skilled outdoorsman, Randall spent any extra time he had on his ranch in Thrifty hunting and running his cattle and hay business. He also enjoyed hunting for arrowheads and could spot one from a running tractor or ATV. He passed that love on to his grandson Cam. He loved being a rancher in every way; he had cows and hay fields that required much of his time, but he enjoyed every minute of it.
Randall had a full life as a bachelor but was missing a family of his own. In 2000, he married Danah Wiginton, acquiring two bonus children and, later that year, a baby boy that he proclaimed his greatest achievement. Randall was many things to many people, but most of all, he was a great husband, father, and friend that could always be counted on.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his mother, Loretta Mattix; his wife, Danah Wiginton Lindsey; sons, Bryer Lindsey and Jerod Martinez and his wife Rachel Martinez; daughter, Laryn Duke and her husband Jason; grandchildren, Camden, Oaklynn, Haden Martinez, and Addy Duke; sister, Kim Sanford and her husband Blake, all of Brownwood. Randall is also survived by his brothers, Ricky Lindsey, Mike Lindsey and his wife Shelly, Robby Mattix and his wife Cyndi; sister-in-law, Jamie O’Dea and her partner Jim Drake; and many nieces and nephews. Last, but not least, Randall leaves behind his beloved black lab, Sheba.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Lindsey; brother, Johnny Lindsey; sister, Brenda Hicks; step-father, Sam Mattix; mother and father-in-law, Jim and Betty Wiginton; sister-in-law, Jodi Cooper; and brother-in-law, Jacky Richardson.
