A graveside funeral service for Beth Atkinson, age 82, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 24, 2023, in the Fairview Cemetery in Grosvenor, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.

Beth passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in Brownwood.

Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Atkinson was born on April 1, 1940, in Coleman, to Bate and Grace (Gaines) Atkinson.  Beth attended Bangs High School.  Most of her working career was at Brownwood Regional Medical Center (now Hendrick Medical Center-Brownwood) as a laboratory secretary.

Beth was a very hard worker, energetic, and cared deeply for her friends and family.  She was genuinely interested in people and made them feel special.  She enjoyed working in her yard and was a very creative craft maker and decorator. Beth enjoyed studying God’s word and talking with brothers and sisters about God’s Kingdom.

Beth’s dear companion and love was her dog, Gabby.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lynn Barlow and husband Scott; two grandsons, Dustin Barlow and wife Amy and Wes Barlow; her great-granddaughter Claire; her sister Karen Mullins; nieces Randa Altman and Janice Sanderson; nephews Mark Atkinson, Richard Cogan and Gerald Mullins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Carmen Ruth Atkinson, a brother, Ross Atkinson, and her daughter, Carrie Gardner.

The family would like to thank Red Stone Park for their love and care of Beth in the past year.
