Updated information has been received from Rising Star ISD concerning a change in the meeting of the school board over the resignation Monday, February 20, of superintendent Robby Stuteville.

In a post on the Rising Star ISD website, it is explained that the Rising Star ISD Board of Trustees emergency meeting, scheduled for February 21, has been changed to a Special Called Meeting to be conducted on February 23 at 4:30 pm.

The Emergency Meeting called for February 21 did not meet the guidelines for an emergency meeting; therefore, a Special Called Meeting has been called for February 23rd at 4:30 pm.

The resignation of the superintendent comes days after parents in the district learned he had left a firearm unattended in a school bathroom. Last week, Superintendent Stuteville confirmed a 3rd grader found his gun in the bathroom at Rising Star Elementary School back in January and notified a teacher immediately without moving or touching the weapon.
