A Cross Plains woman was killed Sunday evening on State Highway 36, about two miles east of Cross Plains. The accident happened at 6:54 pm.

According to the report issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Danielle Elaine Eppard, 38, of Cross Plains was a pedestrian who was walking east in the roadway of State Highway 36. Due to the roadway being dark and not lighted, she was struck by a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.  The driver was treated and released.

The accident was investigated by Trooper William Windham, Texas Highway Patrol in Baird with assistance by Trooper Jose Astello of Eastland, Officer Chris Rios of the Cross Plains Police Department and Deputy Terry Sliter of the Callahan County Sheriff’s Office.
