Arcadio was born on November 20, 1948, to Ignacio and Conception (Gonzales) Negrete in McAllen, Texas.

Arcadio was a lighthouse for many no matter their creed or condition. A guiding light full of wisdom and warmth. Guiding people home to safety. A fountain of giving and care.

He was an unwavering steady champion for the underdog and the ones in need. A rock protecting his family and friends from pain. A helping hand that would heal the body and mind.

When troubles arose, he let you know “It is what it is” and began to help you help yourself through the hard times. His propensity to exude warmth both physically and emotionally provided a safe haven for any and all during these times of trouble. His presence brought calm. Especially in challenging times, he would navigate others to calm waters. He would remind you to simply “Be Cool, Man”.

He bore the rugged scars of years of laboring in love for his family.  A love that led him to guide others in a direct but loving manner without ever leaving doubt of his unconditional love for you.

Arcadio’s family, both blood and chosen, was his life’s work. A huge part of this work, whether on the sports field or in the field of life, was to teach his teams to respect the work and most importantly respect your team. Work together as one because in the end, we are all one.

Above all these labors of love stand Arcadio’s love for Mary. Rarely has there been a couple whose love for each other radiated so brilliantly that it influenced and supported wave upon wave of friends and family. He promised to care for Mary years ago. Dad, you have completed your mission here on Earth. You have left a team to continue the work. Which we will do.

We want to thank you for the leadership, care, and unconditional love that you have given us. May plants grow strong and beautiful, and the drives fly straight and true. As straight and true as you have modeled for us. We all love you. Rest in Heaven our Rey.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Sonia, Steven, and Adrian; his daughters, Erica and Tracy; his grandchildren: Jared, Eliana, Christian, Elijah, Parker, Caleb, Adriana, and Isabella; and one brother, Jose Negrete. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends.

He was preceded in heavenly residence by his mother, Concepcion Negrete; his father, Ignacio Negrete; his siblings, Jesus, Ignacio, Teresa, and Elena.

The family would like to ask anyone who would like to donate to do so in Dad’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or your favorite charity or organization.

Online condolences for the family are welcome at  www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
