According to a news release from the City of Early Police Department:
On Monday, Early Police Officers observed a vehicle speeding on Garmon Drive headed south toward Zephyr.
Officers stopped the vehicle in the 700 block of Garmon Drive and called for a 2nd unit due to movement in the vehicle making it a suspicious circumstance. When officers made contact with the driver, Derek Lynn Cochran, they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
After a search of the vehicle officers located marijuana and a quantity of cocaine as well as prescription pills without a prescription and some drug paraphernalia. Officers were also notified that Cochran had 2 outstanding warrants from Brownwood. Cochran was placed under arrest and taken to the Brown County Jail and charged with Possession of controlled substance 2nd degree felony, possession of dangerous drugs class A misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license invalid and no license plate.
According to Brown County online jail records, bonds total $90,500.
