Kelsea Ballerini shared the release of a six-song EP dubbed ‘Rolling Up The Welcome Mat,’ along with of a short film of the same name, directed and written by Ballerini. The projects follow Ballerini’s fifth studio album, Subject to Change, released last fall.
Earlier in the week Ballerini teased both projects on social media, writing along with the film’s poster art featuring her in a hotel room bed: “six songs. one short film. all rolling up at midnight, valentine’s day.” In another teaser for the EP, she posts, “rolling up the welcome mat. the short film. tonight at midnight. link in bio to set a reminder to tune in.” Finally Ballerini dropped the projects on Valentine’s Day, sharing in a post on Instagram: “Here’s my healing journey. Here’s my heart. here’s my truth. i’ve never been this open, i’ve never been this bold, and i’ve never been this proud of my art. so with love and respect, i’m rolling up the welcome mat. six song story and short film out now. happy valentine’s day.”
Ballerini is also set to embark on the second leg of her headlining Heartfirst Tour this spring, in addition to joining Kenny Chesney on his highly-anticipated I Go Back Tour, supporting Wynonna Judd on two The Judds: Final Tour dates, and joining Shania Twain’s Queen of Me Nashville tour stop over the summer.
