This week, Speaker Phelan announced the 2023 Texas House Committee Assignments for the 88th Legislative Session. Brown County Representative David Spiller announced that he will be serving on the House Committee on Appropriations, State Affairs, and the General Investigating Committee.

Two Appropriations hearings are scheduled for this week, said Spiller.

During the February 14th hearing, we will hear testimony on the following:

– 2024-2025 Biennial Revenue Estimate
– Economic Stabilization Fund
– House Budget Recommendations and Spending Limits
– State Auditor’s Office
– Property Tax Proposals
– Public Education Funding

During the February 15th hearing, we will hear testimony on the following:

– Overview of the Texas Medicaid Program
– Behavior and Mental Health
– Family and Protective Services
– Transportation, Water, and Flood Mitigation Funding
