Richard was born on February 6, 1957, to Zane and Wanda (Blair) Harris in Temple, Texas. Richard attended school in San Saba and graduated with the class of 1976. It was during his high school years under Vocational Industrial Teacher, James Biggs, that Richard found his vocational passion. He became a craftsman in woodworking and cabinetry. His career spanned 47 years throughout Texas.  Richard was a master in his trade and taught many young apprentices during those years.

Richard was passionate about football. He was a lifelong fan of the San Saba Armadillos and the Dallas Cowboys.  This later expanded to Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Richard is survived by his son, Kenneth Harris and fiancé Jolie of Brownwood and their children Leah, Zoey, Hazen, Kennedy, Bradyn, and Kylie Mae, to be born in March; son, Kody Harris and wife Ashley, and their children, Bradie and Kaden all of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Eva Morgan and Richard married in 1981. After their divorce, they remained lifelong friends and partners in raising their family and loving their grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Ron Harris; sisters, Debbie Maultsby and husband Wayne, Pam Benner and husband Gerald, Cindy Reid and husband Bob, all of Brownwood.  We honor and give special recognition to his beloved aunt, Julia Brown Wilson of San Saba (his mother’s sister) and his great-aunt, Billie Gramoldi of Napa, California; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and countless friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Zane D. Harris and Wanda B. Harris Smith.
