Brownwood City Council to Meet Tuesday Morning

The City of Brownwood City Council will meet Tuesday, January 24, at 9:00 am at City Hall in the Council Meeting Room. The agenda is below.

Any citizen who desires to address the City Council on a matter not included on the agenda may do so at this time. The City Council may not deliberate on items presented under this agenda item. To comply with the provisions of the Open Meetings Act, the Council respectfully requests that prior to addressing Council that each person submit a citizen presentation form that is located at the entryway to the Council Chambers, stating your name, address, and topic of presentation. All presentations are subject to a five (5) minute time limit.

A. Consider an Order of General Election setting the May 6, 2023, Election to elect Council positions for Wards 2, 3, and 5.
B. Consider ratification of the Brownwood Municipal Development District Board to approve a Building Improvement Incentive Program (BIIP) grant to Rebecca Morelock for a building located at 305 Fisk Street in an amount not to exceed$15,125.

10. Bids

A. Consider awarding a bid for the replacement of the remaining twenty-nine windows at the Service Center at a cost of $26,200 utilizing Early Glass and Brownwood Door of Early.
B. Consider awarding a proposal to Found Texas for a marketing service contract to manage the Visit Brownwood campaign to be paid through Hotel Occupancy Tax funds.
C. Consider rejecting the bid of $180,000 from Sullivan Contracting for the Coggin Park fence replacement at the tennis and pickleball courts (Bid # 03-2023) and authorize the City Manager to sign an agreement with Belfor Property Restoration (purchasing co-op) for $139,150 and proceed with the fencing replacement to begin February 1st.

12. Executive Session:
The City Council may convene into a closed executive session in the Haynes Conference Room, pursuant to the provisions of the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Government Code Vernon’s Annotated, in accordance with the authority contained in the following section:
Section 551.071 – Consultation with Attorney
Section 551.072 – Deliberation regarding real property
A. Acquisition of real property located at 305 Booker from Texas State Technical College (TSTC).
B. Discussion of possible sale of City property located at Walnut Street.

13. Action as a result of the Executive Session
Council may take any action deemed necessary as a result of the Executive Session.
A. Council may approve a contract to acquire real property located at 305 Booker from TSTC.
B. Council may authorize staff to sell City property located at Walnut Street.
