Woman Arrested After High Speed Pursuit in Brown County

chase

A high speed pursuit that began in Brownwood, reached almost Bangs, then returned to toward Brownwood, ended with no injuries and the arrest of a female driver after all four tires on her vehicle were punctured by spikes placed in the roadway by law enforcement officers.

The chase began after 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon in Brownwood, as a red compact car was pursued by Brownwood police officers out of the city limits on U.S. 67/84 toward Bangs. Before the car reached Bangs, it turned around and headed back toward Brownwood on U.S. 67/84, according to Brown County Sheriff Vance Hill.

The pursuit back toward Brownwood allowed law enforcement officials the opportunity to lay down spikes, which resulted in the flattening of the tires between Giles Trade Lot and Bangs Hill on U.S. 67/84.

The female driver was taken into custody without incident, and no injuries were reported.

The Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the pursuit.

No additional information was available late Thursday.
