Gene Allen Hartin, 79, of Bangs, Texas passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023.
Celebration of Life/Visitation for Gene Allen Hartin will be Sunday, January 8th, 2023 from 2-4 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
Gene was born on December 10, 1943 in Seminole, TX. He served in the U. S. Army as a medic for 4 years. He then married Gwen Hughes Hartin, December 27, 1966 and they moved to Houston, TX. Gene attended University of Houston where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Sociology. Gene and Gwen moved to Bangs, TX in 1984 and he later graduated from Tarleton State University with a second Masters Degree in Education. He then became a Licensed Professional Counselor where he opened his own private practice. Gene dedicated much of his life helping others, both professionally and personally. Gene was a quite compassionate and loving person. In his personal time he enjoyed being on his tractor farming or out fishing with family and friends. He was also the mechanic of the family and was always there to rescue his children and grandchildren with any and all break downs that came up. He was an advocate reader who read constantly throughout his life. He always had a quest for knowledge and yearning to understand all areas of life and the universe. He loved his grandchildren very much and was a great friend to many and showed compassion for others.
Gene is survived by his wife Gwen Hartin; children, Tracy Barclift and spouse Kevin, Carey Hartin-Deal and spouse Anthony; grandchildren, Shelby Rixse and spouse Aaron, Haley Pitts, Kenedi Deal and Trenedi Deal; step-father Jim Burleson; and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his son Seth Hartin; mother Wanda Jean Burleson; brothers, Danny Burelson and Larry Burleson.
