Charlie Vin Gamblin, age 73, of Brownwood, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, in an Abilene hospital. Charlie was born on September 16, 1949, in Victoria, to E.B. and Geneva (Johnson) Gamblin. He graduated from Karnes City High School where he was a star athlete in track and baseball.
Charlie went on to serve his country in the Marine Corps as a sergeant in the 1st Marine Expeditionary Forces in Vietnam. He graduated with his BBA from the University of Texas in 1974 and from St. Mary’s School of Law in 1977. In 1978, Charlie opened his private law practice in Brownwood. He enjoyed part-time ranching while practicing law, and full-time ranching when he retired from his law practice. He loved practicing law.
Charlie married Ginger McGregor in Brownwood, on January 31, 1985.
Charlie was always up for an adventure. He and Ginger loved to travel around the United States and abroad. Charlie was a problem solver and could fix anything. Farming, ranching and the great outdoors were his passion. Charlie was very generous to many different organizations and local causes.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ginger Gamblin of Brownwood, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at a later date.
