Dorothy Mae Matthews, 83 years old of Bangs, Texas, formerly from Houston Texas passed away on December 12,2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 17th, 2022, at New Testament Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Brownwood Funeral Home.

Dorothy Mae Matthews was born in Shelby, Texas to Sam and Ora Jones on September 5, 1939.

She was married to James Matthews on May 3,1958 in Houston, Texas. They had Three children James Jr., Darryl, and Rosemary.

She was a member of New Testament Holiness Church where many enjoyed hearing her sing. She loved crafts, decorating, and spending time with her grandkids and great – grandkids.

Dorothy Mae Matthews was preceded in death by her husband James Matthews, her children James Jr. and Darryl, siblings Gilbert Sr., Zelma, Elsie, John C, Freddrick, Thelma, Ora Bell, Jerutha, Inell, and Delores.

Dorothy Mae Matthews is survived by Rosemary (Matthews) Finley, Granddaughters Dekithia Brown (grandson in law, Elvie), Deontria Finley, Danielle Wells (grandson in law Thane), and Destinie Finley. Great-grandchildren oldest to youngest Joshua Brown, Raven Brown, Samyra Brown, Samuel Brown, and Astrea Wells along with a host of nieces and nephews.
