Julia Willena Benson, age 73, of Brownwood passed away to be in the loving care of her Lord on October 29, 2002 at her home.
She was born April 10, 1949 in Brownwood. The daughter of Osban and Dorothy Lawson Best.
Julia attended Brownwood Schools and was later married to Dennis Benson on August 15, 1964. Throughout her life, she loved music and singing, especially at church. She sang in bands along with her husband and sang many of the old country music songs of the legends.
She worked as a floral designer with Early Blooms as well as several other local florists. She loved to volunteer and had recently been the volunteer coordinator of Cornerstone RSVP helping other senior adults. She was very active in her church at Victory Baptist Church and later at Haven of Hope. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Brown County Lions Club.
She leaves behind to carry on her tradition of caring and enjoying life to her husband Dennis Benson, her two daughters Tonya Logan of Hamilton and Tammy Benson of Brownwood, her son, Tony Benson of Brownwood, two sisters, Dottie Best of San Marcos and Sherry Cryer of Kyle.
Grandchildren, Brandon Keel, Jason Keel and wife Megan, Eric Ross, Anthony Ross and wife Sarah, Mia McCorkle, Randall Williams and Chastity Logan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Debbie Best, and a brother Richard Cryer.
She brought joy to many and will be missed by all.
Memorial are requested to be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, The Shriners Children’s Hospital, the Brownwood Community Garden or the donor’s favorite charity.
Services will be held at 11 am Friday at Haven of Hope with Pastor Brian Hall officiating assisted by Justin Gowin.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery.
The services have been entrusted to the personal care of Benny Allcorn and Brownwood Funeral Home.
